Fabric wall hangings are a unique and stylish way to elevate the aesthetics of any room. These artistic pieces can range from simple and elegant to bold and eye-catching, depending on your personal style and preferences. Consider experimenting with different textures, patterns, and colours to create a one-of-a-kind statement piece for your walls.
Another creative way to incorporate upholstery fabric into your home decor is by creating framed fabric art pieces. This allows you to showcase your favourite fabrics as works of art, adding visual interest and personality to your walls. To make framed fabric art, simply select a piece of upholstery fabric that speaks to you and frame it using a standard picture frame. You can also experiment with layering multiple fabrics or adding embellishments such as beads or embroidery for added dimension. Whether you prefer abstract designs or intricate patterns, framed fabric art pieces offer a versatile and customisable way to decorate your home.

Pros:
Cons:
Silk, known for its opulent feel and gentle caress on the skin, is a favoured choice among those desiring sophistication in their bedrooms.
Pros:
Cons:
Taking the above into consideration it can be said that the choice between silk and cotton pillowcases depends on personal preferences and specific needs. Both materials offer distinct advantages, and what might be considered "better" depends on individual priorities.
Polyester pillowcases, derived from petroleum, embody strength and durability, offering versatility dependent on thread count. Resistant to wear, they maintain a long lifespan. Varying thread counts provide choices, ensuring a balance between durability and luxurious texture. Despite synthetic origins, polyester boasts wrinkle and fade resistance for lasting appeal.
Pros:
Cons:
Microfibre pillowcases offer a luxurious softness, providing an affordable and qualitative alternative. Known for their silky texture, they wash well and resist dirt, maintaining their vibrancy over time. This budget-friendly option seamlessly blends comfort and practicality for a delightful sleep experience.

Cons:
Ultimately, the best pillowcase for sleeping is subjective and depends on individual preferences, budget constraints, and any specific considerations such as allergies or skin sensitivities. ]]>Investing in a mattress protector is undoubtedly worth it. Think of a mattress protector as an insurance policy for your mattress. It shields your bed from potential harm, ensuring it stays in top-notch condition for an extended period.
Does a mattress protector replace a mattress pad?
While a mattress protector and a mattress pad serve different purposes, they can complement each other to enhance your overall sleep experience.
While a mattress protector focuses on protection, a mattress pad focuses on comfort. However, if you're looking for both protection and added comfort, using both a mattress protector and a mattress pad can be a winning combination. This way, you're ensuring your mattress stays clean, protected, and comfortable for a longer time.
A mattress protector is a small investment that pays off in numerous ways. From enhanced comfort and easier cleaning to maintaining the quality of your mattress, blocking allergies, and safeguarding your warranty, the benefits are undeniable. If you're considering purchasing a mattress protector or other top-of-the-line linen items, EDURA is your go-to destination. Take the step towards better sleep and mattress care by exploring the range of mattress protectors and bedding options available on their website. Your mattress deserves the best, and a protector from EDURA is the perfect solution.
]]>Frequency and Hygiene Practices: The frequency of replacing pillowcases varies widely due to individual habits and hygiene practices. For those aiming for optimal cleanliness, a general rule of thumb recommends considering new pillowcases every 6 to 12 months. However, this timeline can fluctuate based on several factors. Those who prioritise cleanliness may opt for more frequent changes, say every 3 to 6 months, to ensure a consistently fresh sleep environment.
Material Matters: The material composition of pillowcases significantly impacts their longevity. Various materials, such as percale, microfibre, or polycotton, showcase varied durability levels. High-quality natural fabrics like linen tend to outlast their synthetic counterparts. Linen pillowcases, known for their robustness and breathability, often withstand wear and tear better than synthetic options. This durability makes them an excellent choice for those seeking longer-lasting bedding essentials.
Hygiene Practices and Care: The lifespan of pillowcases heavily relies on maintenance routines. Regular washing and proper care significantly extend their usability. However, it's essential to strike a balance. While washing is necessary for cleanliness, over-washing or employing harsh cleaning methods, such as using excessively hot water or strong detergents, can expedite wear and tear. Opting for gentle detergents and washing in lukewarm water helps preserve the fabric's integrity, ensuring pillowcases last longer.
Skin Conditions & Allergies: Individuals with sensitive skin or allergies might find more value in frequent pillowcase changes. For those prone to such issues, replacing pillowcases more frequently, perhaps every 3 to 6 months, can significantly alleviate skin reactions and ensure a cleaner sleep environment.
Failure to replace pillowcases regularly can lead to a host of issues. Accumulated dirt, sweat, oils, and bacteria can become a breeding ground for allergens, causing skin irritations, acne breakouts, and even exacerbating respiratory problems for those sensitive to allergens.
Visible Wear and Tear: Keep an eye out for tangible signs like fabric thinning, fraying edges, or visible damage. These indicators suggest that your pillowcase has weathered numerous washes and nights of use. As the fabric weakens, it compromises its ability to shield your skin and maintain cleanliness.
Stubborn Stains or Discolouration: Persistent stains or faded colours aren't just aesthetic concerns; they are markers of prolonged use. Over time, despite diligent washing, pillowcases might retain certain stains or lose their vibrant colours, signifying their age and signalling the need for replacement.
Comfort Disruptions: An often overlooked but vital aspect is how worn-out pillowcases can affect your sleep quality. Changes in sleep patterns or unexplained discomfort might be linked to the diminishing quality of your pillowcase. Your bedding should contribute to a restful night's sleep, and discomfort could indicate that your pillowcase has outlived its efficacy.
Skin Reactions & Allergies: Your pillowcase can accumulate allergens when not replaced regularly. If you notice increased skin issues or allergic reactions, such as itching, redness, or breakouts, it might be due to unclean pillowcases harbouring these allergens.
Persistent Odours & Hygiene Concerns: Unpleasant smells from your pillowcase or lingering hygiene concerns serve as clear indicators that it's time for a change. These odours might signify the accumulation of sweat, oils, or even mould, highlighting the compromised hygiene and necessitating immediate replacement.
Accumulation of Dust Mites and Bacteria: Over time, pillowcases can become hotspots for dust mites, and bacteria. These microscopic creatures thrive in unwashed pillowcases and can significantly impact hygiene and health.
While there isn't a fixed timeline for replacing pillowcases, being aware of the signs indicating their wear and tear is crucial. Regular changes every 6-12 months help maintain optimal hygiene and bedding comfort. Factors such as material quality, hygiene practices, and personal needs significantly influence the replacement schedule.

Towels can be used for:
Tired of the hassle of dish racks taking up counter space? Lay a clean towel on your kitchen counter to serve as a soft and absorbent surface for drying dishes and glassware. The towel will soak up excess water, leaving your dishes sparkling and your kitchen tidy.
Your furry friends deserve comfort too! Create a cozy bed for your pets by folding a few towels or bath sheets to provide cushioning and warmth. Not only will they love it, but it's also an excellent way to repurpose old towels.
Protect your delicate items, prevent slipping, and keep your belongings in place by lining your drawers or shelves with towels. This will add a touch of luxury to your closet while preserving your clothes and accessories.
Cleaning those hard-to-reach places like ceiling fan blades or high shelves can be a daunting task. Wrap a towel around the head of your mop or broom, securing it with rubber bands or twine. Now, you can effortlessly dust and clean without creating a mess.
Forgot your exercise mat at the gym? No worries! Roll up a thick towel or bath sheet to use as a temporary exercise mat for your yoga or stretching routines. It provides the necessary cushioning and support for a comfortable workout.
Achieve a streak-free shine on your windows and glass surfaces by using a lint-free towel, such as a microfibre cloth. Dampen it slightly and wipe away dirt and grime, leaving your windows crystal clear.
Hosting a messy meal or have young kids prone to spills? Place towels on chairs and seats to protect your upholstery from stains and spills. They're easily washable and can save your furniture from wear and tear.
When it comes to your baby, hygiene is paramount. Keep a dedicated towel for changing diapers or dressing your baby. This provides a soft and clean surface, ensuring your little one is comfortable and protected.
Impromptu picnics and outdoor gatherings are made more comfortable with large beach towels or bath sheets. Lay them on the ground to create a cozy seating area or spread them out for a picnic blanket. It's a practical and stylish way to enjoy the great outdoors.
In unexpected situations like power outages or extreme cold, towels can come to the rescue. Drape them over windows and doors to help insulate your home and retain warmth. This makeshift insulation can be a lifesaver during unforeseen circumstances.
In our fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook the significance of reusing items like towels. Beyond the eco-friendly aspect, repurposing towels saves money and minimises waste. By incorporating old towels into your daily routines or employing them in creative ways around the house, you not only extend their lifespan but also contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.
In addition to the above, towels can also be used for:

Here at EDURA, your safety is our utmost priority and concern. For that reason, we have put together a guide on how to safely shop online.
Research the company on Google
Reputable businesses have a Google my Business page that should pop up as soon as you Google the business. Here you will find the business address, contact details, trading hours, a link to their website, images of the business and most importantly Google reviews.
Google reviews
Read the reviews! Customers, happy and unhappy, take the time to leave reviews and share their experiences they had with the business. Does the business take the time to respond to reviews? How are they addressing negative reviews? You can tell a lot about a business from their customer relations.
Google street view
Search the business on Google street view to view the physical location of the business.
Visit their social media pages
The correct social media pages! Beware! Scammers are using social media to create fake business accounts and are then conning people by getting them to pay money into their personal bank accounts. How can you avoid this?
Look at how many followers the page has.
The higher the following, the greater the chance that the page is a legitimate business page.
Read the comments on their posts
See what people are saying about the business. Are they happy/ unhappy? How is the business handling the comments?
Check out the companies website
Make sure the url has https at the beginning. It should look like this: https://eduraonline.co.za/ This means that the website is a secure website.
Identify trust badges
Look out for badges on the website that say fully secured SSL checkout or secure payments.
Only process payments directly on the company website
Avoid making manual EFT payments and cash send payments. Scammers love manual EFT payments and cash send payments. The reason for this is that they can use their own bank details and just change the account holders name to the business name. The bank does not verify if the account holders name matches the account number. For this reason try to avoid making manual EFT payments and never ever make a payment to a cellphone number. Remember these payments are also not traceable.
The safest way to make payments
There are two ways to make payments that are safe and secure:
EFT payments
Use a safe and secure EFT payment gateway such as Paygate, Ozow or Payfast to process your EFT payment. This will be done on the companies website and you will not require the company details to make the payment. These payments are encrypted, easy to use, safe and secure.
Card payments
Look out for reputable payment gateways such as DPO/Paygate (Paygate Payweb) or Payfast to process card payments.
Make a note of your payment details
Make a note of which payment gateway you chose, the date and time payment was made and the amount paid. If for any reason you suspect that the company you are dealing with may not be legitimate (after you have made a payment) Google the payment gateways phone number and contact them. They will be able to tell you if the company has been operational for a long time and may also be able to assist you as they have all the companies details on file.
Avoid shopping telephonically/ on messaging services and via email
If your gut feeling says don’t do it, don’t do it. Remember, individuals/ businesses selling on these platforms make use of manual EFT payments which are not traceable.
Dealing with small businesses
If you are dealing with a small business that does not have a website and their only means of payment is manual EFT payments then make sure you do your homework and know who you are dealing with. Always make a small purchase first to test out the waters before committing to bigger purchases.
Never click on random links
We have all been warned about this one before. Never ever click on any link that looks suspicious be it on sms, email or social media. Hackers can gain access to personal information this way.
If you are not sure email/ call the business
Google the business telephone number. Most businesses have landline numbers not cellphone numbers. Their email address will also be personalised to their business name eg. info@edura.co.za. Be weary of gmail/ hotmail/ yahoo business addresses. Call and email the business to make sure that you are dealing with a legitimate business before purchasing.
Read the return policy and the FAQ page
Always look out for the return policy and Frequently asked questions that should appear on the business website so that you know what their business terms and conditions are before purchasing.
Online shopping makes life so much easier. You can sit in the comfort of your home, in your pyjamas with a hot cup of coffee and purchase goods from the opposite end of the country with delivery to your door. What more could we ask for! Just make sure you go about is safely and securely!

]]>Do you struggle to sleep at night? Are you tossing and turning till the early hours of the morning? Are you tired throughout the day? Toss no more! We have put together tips on how to ensure a good nights sleep.
When purchasing a mattress think of it as an investment. A good, quality mattress will ensure a good nights rest which in turn will help you be more productive. There is so much emphasis on getting 6-8 hours of sleep but it is just as important to ensure that those hours are “quality” sleep.
Be honest! How many years have you been using those pillows? According to the Sleep Foundation your pillows should be replaced every 1-2 years. Doing this will ensure that that your pillows are, “supportive, clean and free of allergens”.
There is a reason why bedding stores offer such a big variety of pillows. Different pillows work better for different people. Some people prefer a more firm pillow like a solid latex or memory foam pillow. Then there are those who prefer a flatter pillow such as a feather pillow while others may prefer the support of a chip-latex pillow. It all comes down to preference at the end of the day. Choosing a combination of pillow types is also a great option to get the perfect height and support you need.
While buying a good pillow is important, sleeping with the correct number of pillows is equally as important. According to the experts it is best to use one or two pillows to ensure a good nights rest. For side sleepers it is recommended to use one pillow under your head and one in between your knees. Back sleepers on the other hand should try to keep their back, neck, shoulders and spine aligned, therefore one pillow would work best to achieve this. Additional pillows can also be used to support your ribs and your hips.
Beddings not only comes in different colours and designs but also in different fabrics. Choosing the right type of fabric is important when trying to achieve a good nights rest. While microfibre bedding works better for people who prefer a warmer sleep experience, 100% cotton fabrics is more soft and gentle on the skin and percale fabric has a crisp and cool feel to it. Making sure your preferences are met will ensure a better nights sleep therefore you should keep this in mind the next time you decide to purchase new bedding. You can learn more about the different types of fabric here.
A study conducted by New York’s St. Lawrence University, revealed that “a messy bedroom can lead to a poor night’s sleep and increased anxiety”. Sometimes all it takes is 5 minutes before bedtime top put away everything that is lying around. It may make all the difference.
Yes, you’ve all heard this one before! Using technology before bed may increase alertness with studies showing that two or more hours of screen time in the evening can seriously disrupt the melatonin surge needed to fall asleep. So the next time you can’t sleep don’t instantly reach out for your phone. You may be adding to the problem!
It may be tempting to grab a snack or few while you watch a movie before bed but this may affect your sleep. You should try not to go to bed for 2-3 hours after eating as that is the amount of time it takes your body to digest your food. Eating before bed may also incite digestive problems like heartburn and acid reflux.
This one is not so straightforward. We all know what it is like sharing a room with a significant other when you have different preferences when it comes to optimal temperature. Perhaps one of you prefers to sleep with the fan or aircon on while the other prefers a warmer sleep environment. If you fall in the latter group it may be time to layer on an extra blanket or two. Click here to shop blankets
And the war begins! Some battles are just not worth fighting. If your partner seems to be hogging all the blanket/ duvet cover it may be time to sleep with your own bedding. Either that or you could always sleep in different rooms (if that is an option for you). Check out this piece about why you should consider sleeping with separate blankets.
Meditation can improve insomnia and may even improve sleep quality. If you are struggling to sleep try downloading a mediation app and give it a try.
After all prioritising good sleep is good self care!

While you have many alternatives, the most popular are blinds with adjustable slats and curtains made of fabric panels. Curtains and blinds each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages.
We've compared blinds and curtains and listed a few differences to help you choose the best one after moving to your new home.
Blinds are slatted or vanes-based window coverings that cascade down or over a fenestration, such as a sliding door or window. The coverings are held together in a stacked pattern by drawcords that can be pulled manually or motorised to provide privacy and sun control.
You can make an instant shift with a simple pull of cords or twist of a rod. However, blinds don't entirely block light. Instead of assembling blinds as a stand-alone piece of décor, you can mix them with curtains to create window treatments that can completely block out light from the sun.
Curtains, unlike blinds, are softer window coverings. They are made of light or translucent cloth or other material meant to block or hide the sun's rays and air drafts. A curtain's versatility is one of its main advantages.
There are many creative and attractive ways to decorate a window or door with curtains tastefully. Curtains have the disadvantage of not providing much light control due to their lightweight material. This problem can be solved by combining curtains with different window treatments such as blinds to create a complete window solution.
Determining the size and function of the room where you will be installing window coverings is important. The appropriate window covering will need to complement the room while also bringing warmth and texture.
A full-length curtain will look great in spacious rooms such as a large living room, dining room, or bedroom for a more sophisticated and warmer effect. Blinds are usually better suited to smaller bedrooms or smaller parts of the house with windows.
Blinds are better for moist environments like the bathroom and kitchen. It's worth noting that blinds are recommended if there is any furniture below the window, such as a bed or a sofa.
Curtains are easy to care for as they can be dry cleaned or cleaned in the washing machine. On the other hand, Roman blinds must be dismantled and washed separately before reassembling. In contrast, Venetian blinds need regular maintenance since the slats tend to collect dust and be cleaned regularly. Because the cords or strings of the blinds may become twisted due to harsh handling, only professionals should repair or install the blinds.
Because blinds feature vertical or horizontal slats that can be manipulated to adjust the light, they provide more light control options.
You can do the following with blinds to control the light:
On the other hand, curtains can filter natural light coming in through the window by using light or sheer curtains, or they can entirely block it out using heavier fabrics like velvet curtains.
Blinds and curtains both maintain heat and allow you to manage the temperature inside your home while also giving privacy and complementing your interior design style.
Curtains are more effective in trapping heat and preventing cold from entering. This is especially the case with blackout thermal curtains, yet they must be properly fitted to your windows to provide the best results. The same is true for soundproofing: while blinds are effective, curtains, especially those made of thick material, are preferable.
Although blinds provide insulation, open slats still allow heat and cold to pass through. Blackout cellular blinds are ideal if you want to save money on heating and cooling.

]]>Fabric guide
Microfibre fabric is made out of thin, fine synthetic fibres that are tightly woven together, often made up of a polyester-nylon blend.
Polycotton fabric Is a combination of natural and synthetic fibres, usually a blend of polyester and cotton. The cotton gives the product its softness while the polyester adds texture.
Percale fabric is woven in a criss cross weave. If you ever saw bedding that uses the word thread count on the packaging, then that would be percale fabric. Thread count refers to how tight the threads are woven hence it will affect the feel of the product. Thread counts start from 180 thread count going upwards.180- 400 thread count is optimal. It is important to note that higher thread counts of 500 upwards tend to be much stiffer and heavier resulting in a denser, thicker sheet.
Cotton is a pure natural fibre.
Regardless of the type of fabric you are looking for, EDURA has you covered with extensive ranges of bedding in all fabric types.

While the CDC encourages 7-9 hours of sleep we must remember that it is not just the amount of sleep that is important but also the quality of that sleep. For that reason, it may be time to consider sleeping with separate linen.
Studies show that a lack of quality sleep increases your chances of getting sicker after being exposed to viruses and may even result in longer recovery times. It makes sense then for us to aim towards getting a good nights rest.
Disturbances in sleep can lead to fatigue, irritability, mood swings and an inability to focus. According to the American Sleep Association, “sleep affects our daily functioning and our physical and mental health in many ways that we are just beginning to understand”.
If you are someone that takes pride in your decor then separate bedding may sound extremely cringe-worthy. But this does not have to be the case. Just because you are sleeping with separate blankets does not mean you have to make your bed with separate bedding. It simply means pulling out an extra blanket from your linen cupboard right before bed and then putting it away again in the morning. Nobody will even know. But they definitely will see an improvement in your overall health and wellness.

The first question you need to ask yourself is what type of bedding are you looking for? Below we explain the differences between a duvet cover set, a comforter set and a quilt set.
A duvet cover is a cover for a duvet inner that has a zipper or button closure. It not only protects the inner but also features as a focal point of your bedroom design. Duvet covers usually come in an array of different fabrics, colours, designs and prints and are sold with matching linen pillowcases. The type of inner you choose to use inside the duvet cover plays a vital role in the overall look and feel you will get once your bed is made. Duvet covers can be used in both Summer or Winter. Due to its affordability you can also keep changing the covers keeping your decor on trend.
Unlike a duvet cover, the comforter is pre-filled and then quilted to ensure an even distribution of filling. Hence there is no need to purchase or use a duvet inner. For this reason comforters sets tend to be rather popular due to their ease of use and practicality. Just take it out the packaging and throw it onto your bed. Like duvet covers, comforters come in a variety of fabrics, colours and designs and include matching pillowcases. Keep in mind, comforters are bulkier than duvet covers, requiring more storage space when packed away and may need to be washed in larger capacity washing machines (depending on the size). Comforters however do not require ironing.
Like comforters, quilts are very easy to use. They can be used to sleep with or used for decorative purposes at the end of your bed. They are made up of two pieces of fabric, with a very thin layer of filling that is then quilted together. They are thinner than comforters. Due to its light weight, quilts are ideal for warmer weather. Quilt sets are extremely practical, easy to wash and do not require ironing.
